Structure and Properties of Model Polybutadienes and HIPS: Effect of Rubber Microstructure on HIPS Dynamic Mechanical Properties
نویسندگان
چکیده
High impact polystyrene (HIPS) series was synthesized by the mass-suspension process using polybutadiene (PB) rubbers with different cis-1,4, trans-1,4, and vinyl-1,2 isomers content. The HIPS were characterized by TEM, GPC, DMA, and DSC analyses. It was found that the dynamic mechanical properties of HIPS strongly depend upon the microstructure of PB used as a modifier due to the different tendency of PB isomers to promote grafting, cross-linking, and crystallization. The DMA for HIPS synthesized from high cis and high trans rubbers show additional relaxations at the low temperature region. The DSC results for gels extracted from these HIPS exhibited melting endotherms confirming the existence of crystalline domains. *Author to whom correspondence should be addressed. In the current study the influence of weight percentage of HIPS, weight percentage of CNT and hardener content on damping 1st and damping 2nd properties of epoxy/HIPS/CNT hybrid composite wase valuated. Mixture design methodology was employed to generate mathematical models for predicting damping 1st and damping 2nd behaviors of new mentioned hybrid nanocomposite as function of physical factors...
متن کاملEffect of Reclaimed rubber Modification on the Rheological Properties and Rutting Resistance of Asphalt Binders
In this paper, the effect of reclaimed rubber modification on the rheological characteristics of asphalt binders is studied. Reclaimed rubber with the extent of 12, 16 and 20 is added to the neat asphalt binder and then shear complex modulus is obtained for neat and modified asphalt binder via Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) test. Using Christensen-Anderson- Marasteanu (CAM) model, master curves ...
متن کاملInvestigation of structural, morphological and dynamic mechanical properties of unvulcanized PDMS/silica compound
In this study, the interaction between the silica filler and polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS) was investigated from the aspects of the bound rubber and morphological characterization. With special attention to the dynamic properties, the dynamic test was conducted by dynamic shear rheometer. The results show that the modified fillers disperse uniformly within PDMS matrix without aggregation and con...
